"Brisbane City Council has announced a $500,000 plan to explore how the Pine Mountain and Mount Coot-tha quarries could be turned into recreational assets.
The Lord Mayor said the council would work towards opening the sites for public use ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic games.
Cr Schrinner said the quarries would still play an important role in the immediate future, but planning for the long-term future of the sites must start now."
It interestingly also reports that,
"Lord Mayor concedes that there is still up to a decade of life in the Mt Coot-tha quarry."
